| Shaftesbury v Barnet Golf Trophy, Whitewebbs, 14th Sept, | Barnet swept the board at the annual golf mach against Shaftesbury Harriers, easily making up for the narrow loss at the cricket match. The winning team was John Rowe, Andy Cunningham and Steve Chilton. The overall individual winner was Liam Mitchell, who won on countback from John Rowe, with Richard McCormick third. Longest drive winner was Alun Johns and nearest the pin winner was Andy "I meant to hit it like that" Cunningham. So overall a clean sweep. In a close run battle for second place we moved ahead of Stevenage with
maximum points in the 3000SC and a very impressive 4 @ 400 team secured
the points. First outing in the Southern League this year for Richard
Gamble and antipodean Dean Degan, who surprisingly found it a bit hot,
but still had the quality to win the "B" string. Debut also for Carl Redondo,
Trent Park who showed plenty of promise for future meetings. He even mentioned
he would have a go at the pole vault - I'm sure Chi will give him a few

Two races within a week and the long trek up to Royston resulted in a
low turnout of B&D runners. Our senior ladies' team finished third and
once again bailed out the men's team which finished a very disappointing
last. Special mention to Jacqui Tarrant who won the ladies' race again,
to John Mould for another excellent run, and to David Williams for closing

A very scenic course along the paths of Epping Forest inspired our senior
ladies' team to another solid second place finish. The men, however, were
less inspired coming home in fifth place. Special mention to Jacqui Tarrant
who continued her run of good form by winning the ladies' race in a sparkling
29:53 and to Nick Bingham who won the V60 category by nearly 4 minutes.
